Guys, I feel like I say this every week but where did the summer even go?! This week is already September and I feel like yesterday was just the beginning of July. Now there’s a chill in the air every morning and the sun is starting to set earlier and earlier.
While I’m pretty open about how much I love summer, I know most of you are excited for fall and the greater outfit options it allows. I console myself with the fact that there are still plenty of ways to hold onto some summer styles while still welcoming in fall.
HOW TO BEAT THE HEAT AND STILL GET YOUR FALL FASHION KICKED OFF
Everyone loves fall partially because it allows you to start layering again. While you may want to pile on the layers, don’t forget that it still gets warm in the afternoon! However you can beat the heat with this easy styling hack.
Keep your cool while getting your layering on by wearing a shorter hemline with your layers on top. For example, wear a short summer dress with a light weight sweater and denim jacket on top. You can always add layers underneath your summer dress as well but it’s generally easier to add and subtract through
Still too warm even for light layers? You can always “fall-ify” a dress with simple swaps like ankle boots instead of sandals and rather than wear your denim jacket, tie it around your waist. You can even lighten it up to a simple chambray if you live in warmer climates than Seattle (it’s pretty easy to live somewhere warmer than Seattle)
You can use this same trick with shorts as well if dresses aren’t up your alley. Think ankle boots plus some light layers on top like a silky tank and a blazer or jacket.
