Best Stores for Holiday Shopping (aka Free Shipping & Return Policy Wins)

‘Tis the season to be gifting! It’s officially holiday shopping season. My coworker told me last week that she was almost done and only missing a gift for her husband. Yeah… I haven’t even started thinking about what to get people for Christmas.

However, talking with her got me thinking about holiday shopping. Especially when it comes to gifting, I like shopping places where they have good return policies. Here are some of the best stores for holiday shopping (in my oh so humble opinion)

Nordstrom

Nordstrom is world famous for their incredible return policy. No questions asked, they’ll take it back. There is even company lore about it. Look up the Nordstrom tire return if you’re curious. Needless to say, if you’re shopping for gifts and aren’t certain the receiver will like the gift/sizing, opt for Nordstrom as they will be able to return the gift with ease.

Zappos

For a 100% online company, Zappos has a fantastic shipping and returns policy. They have the easiest return policy of any online retailer that I’ve ever dealt with aka free shipping, free print at-home labels, and you have an entire year to return items. Plus don’t think that they only carry shoes. Zappos, while they started as a shoe company, have since expanded to accessories and even some clothing including luxury brands.

Shopbop

Shopbop is always my #1 favorite when it comes to shipping. Hello 3-day free shipping and free returns! Plus they’vs teamed up with Amazon, which means that everything you buy on Shopbop is eligible for Prime. So let’s go ahead and make that free 2-day shipping!

ASOS

So ASOS isn’t somewhere I buy a lot of gifts for other people (mainly just gifts for myself…) but they are worth having on this list because their shipping paperwork already includes the return shipping sticker. They also ship everything in plastic bags that already have a strip of tape inside the bag. They do all the work for your return up front and include postage. Any retailer that allows me to avoid the Post Office deserves to be included!

Macys

Ok while the first several stores we talked about are mentioned because of their return and/or shipping policies, Macy’s is not on the list for that reason. Sadly Macy’s user interface leaves much to be desired but they are great when it comes to getting the most bang for your buck. When gift shopping (especially in stores versus online), Macy’s has so many deals and steals, you’re able to take advantage and save all across the board. Always, always, ask the person ringing you out if there are extra savings they might know about.
